Movita understands the trauma that comes from losing a family member to homicide. She lost her father, only brother and a cousin to homicide. On January 13, 2011 Movita’s youngest of four children, Charles Andre Johnson 18 years old was shot and killed in a case of mistaken identity
Movita has over two decades of experience fighting to improve the quality of life for disenfranchised groups including the homeless, seniors, children and those with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and substance abuse disorders.
In January of 2018, Movita was appointed as Supervisor of Victim/Witness Services and Restorative Justice at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office by District Attorney Larry Krasner where she fights for the rights of families who are victims of violence, and those victimized by mass incarceration.
